Yarmysh linked Navalny's transfer to the upcoming Russian presidential election in March. While Putin's reelection seems almost certain, Navalny's supporters aim to leverage the campaign to diminish public support for the Kremlin leader and address ongoing military actions in Ukraine.
The transfer to a remote and isolated colony is seen as a deliberate move to restrict Navalny's communication and influence during this critical period. Despite being incarcerated since January 2021, Navalny remains a significant opponent of Putin, campaigning against corruption and organizing anti-Kremlin protests.
